Martyr’s Day Celebration: Former Ministers’ Office crowded with visitors

On 19th July, the 77th Martyrs’ Day celebrations were held across the country to commemorate General Aung San and Martyrs leaders who were assisinated.

In Yangon Region, the Secretariat (Former Ministers’ Office) was crowded with visitors from all Regions and States.

TunShwe, Visitor, Homalin, Sagaing Region said "I’m 88-year-old. I came from Homalin Township in Sagaing Region for a visit to Yangon. But this time, I had a chance to visit the Secretariat Office along with my daughter and grandchildren on this significant day and this is my second time visit to this Secretariat."

One of the next generation students who came to the Secretariat Office with his classmates expressed his feeling on the 1st time visit and his remembrance on the General Aung San and fallen leaders.

Zwe Maha Thwe, No. 2 B.E.H.S (Dagon Seikkan) said "I’m a student from No. 2 Basic Education High School (Dagon Seikkan). Altogether 21 students from our school are visiting here on this Martyrs’ Day. At this Secretariat Office, we can observe the history of office and displacement of office rooms. I want to visit here next time if I have a chance. And, I always remember fallen heroes including General Aung San for their persistent efforts for Independence of our country. "

As a special exhibition, photos and historical items which were used by fallen martyr leaders including General Aung San are displayed at the Secretariat Office.

Martyr’s Day celebration is one of significant occasion for Myanmar people and it is observed annually on July 19th. People visitthe Secretariat Office on this significant day to pay tribute to fallen martyr leaders including General Aung San.

Every year at 10:37 am sharp on the Martyrs’ Day, people and vehicles, commuting on the road made a stop and honking as a gesture to pay tribute to the fallen heroes.
