Market Festival 2023: UMBEEA holds pre Thingyan celebration

The pre celebration of New Year Thingyan Water Festival and MSME products sale 2023 is taking place at Myanmar Handicraft Center in North Okalapa township of Yangon region on 8th of April.

Preserving the intangible cultural heritage and promoting the local products among the business people to penetrate local and international markets, the Union of Myanmar Bamar Ethnic Entrepreneurs Association organized the event.

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn and wife, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Deputy Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Zaw Aye Maung, diplomats from foreign embassies and the officials concerned attend the celebration. There, the Union Minister U Maung Muugn Ohn extended greetings and delivered Thingyan wishes. And the opening ceremony of the Thingyan celebration and market festival 20232 is held by the cutting the ceremonial ribbon. 

President, UMBEEA, Kyaw Dewa, said " During COVID-19 pandemic, we were not able to do such events. But now in post COVID period, our association is now over 2 years since the establishment in DICA. The exhibitors will get opportunity as we invite the special guests like diplomats and ethnic associations and business partners. We also boost the advertisements for that. I wish to be happy and healthy in the New Year and I’d like to invite the comers for businesses."

As a gesture of welcoming the Traditional Thingyan Festival, the Union Minister and wife and party enjoyed the water splashing by the Eugenia sprigs and cheered the Thingyan performances together with the staff. After that, they observed the MSME products exhibition booths. 

Vice Chairman, Ko Kang Ethnic Entrepreneurs Association, Aung Thein Naing, said " We exhibit here Ko Kang main products like foods, consumer goods, and related goods and construction materials. We can see the different local products from ethnic people here at the same place and I want to invite all to come and explore. After New Year, more exhibitions I wish to come more."

The market festival will be held from 8th to 9th of April and over 30 exhibition booths are being showcased for the festive comers.
