Marine Products Sector: Over 3900 metric tons exported to Thailand

In 2022-2023 financial year, the Marine Products and General Trading Cooperative Societies have traded more than 3,900 metric tons of marine products to Thailand. There are about 13 export/import trading cooperative societies in Kawthoung Township of Tanintharyi Region and only 8 of them trade marine products. 

Thein Aung, Staff Officer, Cooperative Department, said " The marine products worth over 7,100 million in USD were exported to foreign markets till the mid of March in this financial year. The export/import products by cooperative societies are inspected at the Kawthoung border gate. Our Department issues export/import license to the cooperative societies in a timely manner. We also cooperate with relevant departments to help those cooperative societies overcome difficulties."

Among the 8 Cooperative Societies taking care of marine products export, only 3 of them have been active for trading at present.
