Maravijaya Buddha Image: SAC Chairman addresses Work Coordination Meeting

A work coordination meeting on the Maravijaya Buddha Image was held at the Buddha Park in Dekkhina Thiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw on Saturday.

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing made a speech, emphasizing that the construction works, being the world's tallest sitting Buddha image, have been carried out with the utmost care in arts and craftsmanship.

He stressed the need for systematic measures to prevent any damage, maintain cleanliness, and ensure readiness for maintenance.  He also emphasized the importance of appointing staff for security, maintenance, and electrical works, as well as fulfilling the needs for vehicles and machinery.

Furthermore, he highlighted the necessity of forming the Board of Trustees in accordance with established rules and regulations.

The Advisor to the SAC Chairman Lt-Gen Nyo Saw, reported on various tasks, including maintenance and administrative work, the condition of daily obeisance by the public, donation reception, arrangements for an e-ticket entry system, free entry for those from religious orders and school programs, discounts for staff, and the formation of committees such as the Maravijaya Buddha Image Ovada Cariya Sayadaws Committee, Panel of Patrons, Maintenance Committee, Board of Trustees, Advisory to the Board of Trustees, Supporting Groups, security measures, and other welfare activities. Officials later provided sector-wise updates on the implementation of the works.

The Prime Minister instructed the provision of smooth transportation, arrangements for reducing power consumption, and greening efforts. After the meeting, the Prime Minister and party toured the Buddha Park and paid homage to the Buddha images, warmly greeting pilgrims during their visit.
