





Maravijaya Buddha Image is being opened free for the public obeisance from 8th to 16th August between 6 am and 8 pm.
On Tuesday, people from all parts of the country made pilgrimage to the Maravijaya Buddha Image that is built at the Buddha Park in DekkhinaThiri Township of Union Territory Nay Pyi Taw and the Buddha Image and the Buddha Park were teemed with visitors.
For the safety of pilgrims and enabling to pay homage to the Buddha Image with peace of mind, security checks were conducted at the arches of the pagoda. For smooth transportation, monks, disabled and elder persons were taken to the pagoda platform by buggies.
The pilgrims and people paid homage to the Buddha Image and pagodas and the religious Wut associations recited religious verses. People also observed the monastery, lake, repositories, Thudhamma public rest houses, bridge, park, water fountain square, 720 marble plaque chamber cetis and other religious buildings.
The marble plaque chamber cetis were constructed by taking samples from the stone inscription chambers of Maha Kuthodaw pagoda in Mandalay.The stone inscriptions are carved on the marble slabs in Pali and Romanize Languages by using modern machines and visitors can study Pitaka treaties while paying homage to the pagoda.
Agga Dhipati Sasana Beikman or Visumgama ordination hall is 296-ft long, 213-ft wide and 94-ft high and it capacitates 900 monks and 1,200 people. It is built to be able to hold state level religious ceremonies. Monks and pilgrims across the nation also made cash donation for the Buddha Image and well-wishers also donated fruit biryani for the pilgrims.
Maravijaya Buddha image is the World’s Highest Sitting Marble Buddha image and it was built with the aims; to show the flourishing of Theravada Buddhism in Myanmar, to have Myanmar as a focal point of Theravada Buddhism, to ensure prosperity of the State and to contribute to peace and stability of the world.
It’s built with the tradition of Buddhist culture, Myanmar arts and crafts. Maravijaya Buddha imaged is allowed to open free for public obesiance till 16th August but it is found that there are crowded with many people from all part of the country who make pilgramage to the Buddha Image.
That’s why, enabling to pay homage the Buddha Image with peace of mind by monks and people, the date for public obesiance will be extended free from 17th to 19th August.
On 20th August and after that day, the entrance fee for the pilgrims will be collected 1000 kyats for a national (adult) and 10 USD for a foreigner to take part as a contribution in carrying out maintanance tasks for long-term existence of Maravijaya Buddha Image and the park.
