Mango Market: Local market price increased compared to the previous year

Mango growers get good price in this year mango season according to the Myanmar Mango Market and Technology Development Association.

The market price for 16 kilogramme basket is around 35,000-40,000 kyats which only got 30,000 kyats in the previous year.Recently, mangoes from Ayeyawaddy and Yangon Regions are selling in the local markets.  Most of them are Yin Kwe and Sein Ta Lone Mango species.Myanmar has more than 200 varieties of mango species, and among them, Sein Ta Lone, Shwe Hintha, Ma Chit Su, and Yin Kwe are the most commercial type in local and export markets.

Since Mango season is from April to May, the products exported during this time fetched good market price. Mangoes are mostly planted in the Mandalay, Ayeyarwaddy and Sagaing Regions and Shan State. There are over 30,000 acres in Mandalay Region and over 100,000 acres in the Ayeyawaddy Region.
