New Zealand Prime Minister Luxon held a joint press conference with his Malaysian counterpart on Monday. Malaysia and New Zealand plan to increase bilateral trade by 50 per cent by 2030 and review the existing free trade agreement.

He said both countries will eliminate non-tariff trade barriers that impede the flow of goods between their borders and they are collaborating on certifications and customs processes to ensure smooth border operations. They discussed issues related to bilateral relations and cooperation under the Malaysia-New Zealand Strategic Partnership, signed in 2023, covering four pillars: prosperity, people, planet, and peace and security.
