Malawian President says no survivors in Vice President's Plane Crash

Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera on Tuesday announced in a televised address that there are no survivors following the crash into a forest of a plane carrying Vice President Saulos Chilima and nine others.

Lazarus Chakwera, President of Malawi said "Search and rescue team has found the aircraft near a hill in the Chikangawa Forest and they have found it completely destroyed with no survivors as all passengers on board were killed on impact." 

The plane carrying 51-year-old Vice President left the southern African nation's capital on Monday but failed to land as scheduled around 45 minutes later at Mzuzu International Airport, about 370 kilometers to the north. Aviation authorities lost contact with the plane when it went off radar, according to a statement from Malawian President Office.
