A major forest fire breaks out again near Split in Croatia

Many Balkan countries have faced large blazes over the summer period, including Bulgaria, Greece, and North Macedonia.

A major wildfire that had been contained after ravaging 700 hectares of land in the area around the port city of Split in southern Croatia on Wednesday. The fire is raging near the village of Donje Sitno. Some 250 firefighters, with 80 tanker vehicles, are on the ground to protect homes from the fire, according to the regional fire brigade.
