Major Drug Seizure: 2.3 tons of Methamphetamine confiscated in Pyapon

The Myanmar Police Force has reported a significant drug bust in Pyapon Township, resulting in the seizure of over 69 billion kyat worth of methamphetamine (ICE).

On July 22nd, at around 1:00 pm, a security team halted a cargo motorboat at Khapyat Creek, leading to a chase and arrest of five suspects. The operation uncovered 2.3 tons of methamphetamine. Further investigation led to the arrest of seven additional suspects in various locations, including Yangon Region and Pyin Oo Lwin.

Authorities also seized arms, ammunition, vehicles, and 19 million kyat. The drugs were intended to be transported from Shan State (South) to Malaysia. The case has been filed according to the law, and the suspects' assets, including financial gains and property, are subject to action under the Anti-Money Laundering Law.
