Maintenance for Reliable Power Supply: MOEP Union Minister inspects Hydropower Plants

Union Minister for Electric Power U Nyan Tun, together with officials, visited the Upper PaungLaung Hydropower Plant in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area on 26th August.

They inspected the power transmission to the National Grid, the operation of turbines, the inflow of water into the dam, the storage condition, and the durability of the water intake building, diversion weir, and concrete embankment.

In the briefing hall, officials provided updates on work undertakings, and the Union Minister instructed for harmonious undertakings of maintenance and repairing works for machines and dam facilities, as plans were made for generating full capacity electricity in the coming summer with stored water.

The Union Minister also provided cash assistance and foodstuffs for the staff. They then visited the Nan Cho Hydropower Plant and inspected the water inflow, storage condition, and the process of sending water through high-pressure steel pipes, as well as the operation of turbines and power transmission to the National Grid.

Officials reported on the work undertakings, and the Union Minister instructed for constant maintenance works for long-term durability and compiling spare parts for machines. The Union Minister then provided cash assistance and foodstuffs for the staff, emphasizing the necessities in performing their duties.
