Mahakathina robe offering ceremony: SAC Chairman and wife attended the ceremony

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla attended the 2024 Kathina robe offering ceremony of the State Administration Council of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar at Sasana Maha Beikman in the precinct of Uppatasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw and offered Kathina robes and alms to members of the Sangha in the morning on November 11.

Present at the ceremony were 27 members of the Sangha led by the Chairman Sayadaw of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Presiding Patron of Thanlyin Minkyaung Pahtamabyan Sarthintaik Dr Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa, Secretary of the SSMNC Mahanayaka of Masoeyein Taikthit Presiding Sayadaw of Dhammasamiddhi monastery Baddanta Vasethabhivamsa,  Vice Chair of Shwekyin Nikaya Joint-Sangharaja of Shwekyin Sect, Mahanayaka of Mahathubawdayon monasteries, Rector Sayadawgyi Dr. Baddhata Nandamalabhivamsa, Ovadacariya Sayadaws of the Uppatasanti Pagoda Board of Trustees.

The Senior General and wife were accompanied by the Council Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, Council Secretary and wife, Joint Secretary and wife, Council members and their wives, Union level officials, Union ministers and their wives, the chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, senior military officers and their wives, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and officials.

First, the Senior General paid homage to the Buddha image in the Sasana Maha Beikman and offered the alms in the emerald alms-bowl, flowers, water, oil lights and fruits.The Senior General and congregation viewed round the display of Kathina robes, offertories and offertory trees to be donated to Vajurananda Thubawdayon Monastery in Uttarathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw.

After opening the ceremony, the Senior General and congregation took the Five Precepts from Thanlyin Minkyaung Sayadawgyi and listened to recitation of Metta Sutta by members of the Sangha.The Senior General and wife donated Kathina robes and offertories to Thanlyin Minkyaung Sayadaw, Vajurananda Thubawdayon MonasteryRector Sayadawgyi respectively.

Next, the SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Minister and wife offered Kathina robes and offertories to Secretary of the SSMNC Mahanayaka of Masoeyein Taikthit Presiding Sayadaw of Dhammasamiddhi monastery Baddanta Vasethabhivamsa.

The SAC Secretary and wife, Joint Secretary and wife, Council members and their wivesoffered Kathina robes and offertories to the members of Sangha.The Sayadaw of Ohntaw Monastery in Pyinmana and Sayadaw of Ngwetaung Tawya Monastery in Tatkon staged the Question-and-Answer session about Kathina robe offering ceremony.

The Senior General and congregation listened to a sermon delivered by Rector Sayadawgyi and shared merits gained.After the ceremony, the Senior General, wife and congregation offered day meals to the members of Sangha led by Thanlyin Minkyaung Sayadaw.

During the ceremony, they donated 49offertory trees valued over 53.233 million Kyats and over 90.158 million Kyats of cash donation, which totally amounted to over 133.714 million Kyats, it’s learnt.
