Macron welcomes Costa Rican president at Elysee

French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed Costa Rica President Rodrigo Chaves Robles on Friday at the Elysee in Paris. The two leaders are scheduled to discuss matters of bilateral cooperation, with the environment and climate as issues on top of the agenda.

Costa Rica and France have been co-chairing an intergovernmental environmental group launched in 2019, the High Ambition Coalition for Nature and people. France will host the next United Nations Oceans Conference - a high level event that gathers leaders and experts from all over the world. Both France and Costa Rica are working towards the adoption of a global treaty to fight plastic pollution.
