France announced on Thursday a relatively minor government reshuffle, naming Gabriel Attal as new education minister and Aurelien Rousseau as new health minister, among other changes.

President Emmanuel Macron said he chose ‘continuity and efficiency’ with the changes, and with his choice to keep Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne in her role. Since his re-election last year, Macron has faced months of angry demonstrations over a deeply unpopular hike in the retirement age and was forced into crisis management again late last month when riots erupted nationwide.
