Macron calls for a 'love triangle' between Europe, Brazil, and Africa

French President Emmanuel Macron called on Thursday for a "reinvented" transatlantic relationship so that the "triangle of pain" that linked Europe, the Americas, and Africa can be transformed into a "triangle of love." 

Macron spoke from Salvador, a city on Brazil's east coast where the first slave market in the New World was held, as he visits the country for the 30th UN Climate Change Conference. He stated that triangle, which was once a triangle of pain, exploitation, and a route of shame, is now turning into a triangle of love through the forum and the work of the cultural institutions and artists."
