Macron calls elections after shock EU poll

French President Emmanuel Macron has said in a televised address he is dissolving the French parliament and calling for new elections following the victory of the far-right party National Rally in the EU elections.

New parliamentary elections will be held on 30June and 7 July. In the first projections, the National Rally received more than 30% of the votes, twice as many as the presidential movement Renaissance.
