Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi named India’s new Army Chief

The Indian government appointed Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi as the new Army Chief. He is currently serving as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff and he will assume the charges on June 30th.

Lt-General has held important posts, including those of Director General Infantry and General Officer Commanding in Chief of the Northern Command from 2022 to 2024, before being appointed the Vice Chief of the Army Staff.
