London faced extreme heat on Friday as the British Meteorological Office (MET) issued a four-day amber heat warning for southern and central England and parts of Wales from Thursday to Sunday.
Although Britain is typically rainy, the government officially declared a drought across southern and central England on Friday. This summer has been declared as the hottest and driest on record.
In July, the red heat alert covered a big chunk of England, where temperatures reached record-breaking 40 degrees Celsius for the first time, posing a risk of serious illness and even death among healthy people.
