






Myanmar produces more locally made clothing with own brands. Japan is the largest buyer of Myanmar domestic weaving textile products and has expanded these textile products to the European market.
To expand export market, locally produced garments and clothing will be exhibited by 10 local companies in the International exhibition, “Home Textile, Home Decoration” in coming May.

Japan mostly buys Myanmar textile products. Some weaving industries have been closed in Myanmar during covid period and so, only 5million cottons can be produced.
Yin Yin Moe, Secretary, Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association (MGMA) said "Foreign countries like Myanmar’s cottons which are high demand.But, sizing and dyeing processes are the main sources for weaving of cotton dresses.The cotton industry will be fine if these processes can be provided."
There are 60,000 weaving looms in the whole country and about 25 million yards of cotton are produced monthly. At present, many local cotton clothing with own brand can be produced in local and some people value to wear these clothes.
