





The earthen oil lamps are in good demand in the market for upcoming Thadingyut festival.
The earthen oil lamps are mostly ordered from Shan State and Taninthyi Region and as abroad, they are ordered by Thailand. The sales of earthen oil lamps have increased by 3 or 4 times compared to the previous year due to innovative designs, beautiful colours and adding wax, according to the earthenware shop in Mandalay.
Aye Aye Myint ,Pyone Pan Tha Earthenware Shop said " In the Thadingyut season, the oil lamps and flower pots to offer to the buddha images are in good demand. The oil lamps are various designs such as lotus shape, alm bowls and so on and they are also colorful. During COVID-period, we have expanded our sales online and people have known more about our earthenware. Taninthayi Region and Shan State mostly order to us."
As the wholesale price, the prices of oil lamp differ from 22 kyats to more than 400 kyats per one depending on types.

Besides, the price is cheap and they are not disposable and we can reuse them until they don’t break. I would like to urge to use more local made items because it can generate more income for makers and the price is reasonable. "
The local-made oil lamps are good demand in the market to offer lights to the Buddha images during Thadingyut period and it is learnt that the business of the people who operate this related industry are also doing well.
