Livestock Sector: MoALI organizes 25th edition of Wednesday Talk

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation organized the 25th edition of Wednesday Talk under the title “Development of Prawn Breeding”. The development of prawn breeding will bring many benefits to the country including domestic self-sufficiency and foreign income growth from export.  

Dr. Aung Gyi ,Deputy Minister ,MoALI said " We need to produce more new products and need to improve both fish and prawn breeding. If we expand the livestock and breeding sector, more jobs can be created for locals and it can reduce the poverty rate."

During this Talk, concerned officials discussed matters on expansion of prawn breeding, bio security system and rules and regulations to be followed to maintain the resources.

Mya Mya Sint ,Deputy Director ,Department of Fisheries said " Both the government and private sector need to cooperate to develop the livestock sector of our country. We also need to continuously produce the hatchlings needed for livestock breeding. We can get more profits if we can produce feeds locally for hatchlings."

In the discussion, the officials also discussed methods to be followed to obtain high quality and disease-free prawn hatchlings and benefits of research activities to encourage the breeding sector.
