Livestock Development: Inspection at the Cattle and Poultry Farms in Mandalay

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation is advancing livestock measures to boost livestock and aquaculture production sector. On January 23, Deputy Minister Dr. Aung Gyi visited the KyuWun Cattle Breeding Model Farm in Patheingyi Township, Mandalay Region.

He reviewed reports on crossbreeding local cattle with Brahman cattle for F1 bulls and the distribution of F2 Brahman breeds and breeding technologies. In response, the Deputy Minister urged research on local livestock feed and its nutritional content. He also instructed the distribution of new cattle with 87.5% Brahman blood and inspected local breeds.

The Deputy Minister proceeded to the Mandalay Livestock Research Station in Aung MyayThazan Township. During the visit, he heard reports on fishery sector development, including the 2024-2025 fiscal year fish breeding, goldfish breeding, conservation of indigenous species and environmentally beneficial breeding methods.

He instructed for the aquaculture industry development to meet domestic demand and boost export earnings. In the evening, the Deputy Minister visited the poultry farm in LetPanKone Village, PyinOoLwin Township and heard reports on poultry farming and distribution to Mandalay and Sagaing Regions and Chin and Kachin States. He instructed local farmers to focus on technology, cooperation, feeding and nutrition and disease control and inspected the poultry farm.
