In cooperation with Myanmar Library Association, Ministry of Education has been implementing the School Libraries Development project across the country since 2018. The project has been conducted at 100 schools across the country including No (16) B.E.H.S Mandalay for the 2020-2021 Academic Year.

Vice Chairperson-3, Myanmar Library Association, Dr. Sandar Oo said “The librarians from respective University Libraries are implementing the project of the School Libraries Development. The university librarians also share the systems of University Libraries and International libraries with the teachers of Basic Education schools to keep the development of school libraries.”

As part of the project, the university librarians gave a training of standards library education to the school teachers.

Teacher, No.16 B.E.H.S (Mandalay), Thein Naing said “There were some difficulties to keep the school library as the school librarians didn’t know the library education well before. Now, the University Librarians also share the ways of books arrangement of a library and how to borrow the books systematically. Later I think, we don’t need much time to find a book what we want in the library.”

The project aims to develop the school libraries, to flourish library culture and encourage the reading habits among the students, it’s learnt.
