Lebanese President Joseph Aoun receives Mahmoud Abbas

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun received Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the presidential palace in Baabda on Wednesday. During the meeting, they discussed the disarmament of Palestinian refugee camps, as Lebanon seeks to impose its authority on all its territory. 

This marks Abbas' first visit to the country since 2017, which hosts around 222,000 Palestinian refugees, many living in overcrowded camps beyond the control of the Lebanese authorities.
