



At least 120 people, most of them women, have been crushed to death at an overcrowded Hindu religious gathering in northern India on Wednesday. The stampede marks the country's worst such tragedy in more than a decade.
It is reported that about 250,000 people turned up for an event that was permitted to accommodate 80,000. More than 80 were taken to hospitals after the crush in a village in the Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh, roughly 125 miles southeast of the country's capital New Delhi.
