At least 11 hurt in Detroit apartment fire

About a dozen people have been hurt in an early morning apartment building fire on Detroit’s west side. The blaze was reported around 3:30 a.m. Friday.

Fire Chief James Harris said that 11 people suffered smoke inhalation, bumps and bruises and were taken to hospitals.Twenty others have been displaced from their homes.At least some sections of the building’s roof appeared to have collapsed. Harris described the building as a “total loss.”It wasn't immediately clear what caused the fire.
