






The final rites event of late Bhamo Sayadaw will be held from 4th to 6th June and cremation of the remains of the Sayadaw will be held at the Chan Myathazi airfield in Mandalay on 6 June evening.
Bhamo Sayadaw Dr Bhaddhanta Kumara Bhivamsa, Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee, 94 years old, vasa 74, peacefully passed away at Bhamo Monastery in Maha Aung Myay Township, Mandalay region on 25 May.
Kyaw Hlaing,,Director,Religious Affairs Department, Mandalay said "According to the coordination with the late Sayadaw’s disciple monks, the State Sangha Central Working Committee’s Sayadaws, Ovadasariya Sayadaws and the Region Sangha Nayaka Committee Sayadaws, the final rites of late Bhamo Sayadaw will be held from 4th to 6th June for 3 days."
The Dhama Thabin recitation ceremony will be held for the 1st two days of the event and the final rites of the late Sayadaw will be held at the Kanbawza Sasana Beikman in Bhamo monastery starting 2 pm of 6th June and then the remains of the late Sayadaw will be conveyed to Chanmyathazi airfield for cremation.

The place to cremate the remains of late Sayadaw is at Chan Mya Thazi airfield. We’d like to express a great sorrowful for passing away of venerable Sayadaw who is respectful by the people in the nation as well as around the world and passing away of the Sayadaw is a great loss for religion."
Bhamo Sayadaw served religious duties with concerted efforts while residing in Bhamo monastery when he was alive and he also wrote many religious treatises. Sayadaw was offered Agga Maha Pandita , Agga Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita , Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru and Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika titles as well as D Litt by the State Pariyatti Sasana Universities management central committee, Yangon University and Sehan University of Korea. Sayadaw served as Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee-SSMNC as well as had served duties of Pro-Rector at the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University.
