Landslide near Vaishno Devi shrine kills five

In Jammu of India, at least five people were killed and 14 injured after heavy rainfall triggered a landslide en route to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine on Tuesday. Rescue operations are underway, and the pilgrimage has been suspended.

The Indian Army’s White Knight Corps, Shrine Board, J&K Police, and Central Reserve Police Force are jointly assisting the victims. Indian Air Force is also pitching in to carry out relief and rescue operations in Jammu. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for 11 districts, warning of more heavy rain.
