Landslide in Cilacap hit three villages in the district

A landslide hit three villages in the district of Cilacap, Central Java of Indonesia on Thursday night, burying and damaging houses.The incident was triggered by prolonged heavy rain that caused the hillside to collapse and hit residential areas.

By early Friday, the joint team reported rescuing 23 people, while three others sustained minor injuries and two were confirmed dead. Search and rescue operation is underway looking for missing victims. The landslide also caused significant material losses, with 12 houses damaged and 16 others at risk. Unstable soil conditions have posed major challenges for rescuers during this critical window of time.
