Labour Dispute Settlement: MOL Union Minister attends the seminar in Yangon

Seminar on Labour Dispute Settlement was held at the UMFCCI in Yangon on 14th October with the attendance of Union Minister for Labour U Myint Naung, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Ayeyawaddy Region Minister for Social Affairs, Directors General, Deputy Directors General, Chariman of UMFCCI, members of Dispute Settlement Arbitration Council and mediation teams and departmental officials. Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister stressed that the seminar aims to settle the disputes between the employer and employees in accordance with the existing laws and to obtain good results.
To improve the relationship and capacity of the workplace, the employers and employees are urged to make initial discussions on difficulties encountered. The mediation team, arbitration panel and arbitration council are also urged to work on achieving fair and win solutions for both employer and employee impartially.
The dispute settlement tasks must be conducted without bias to form a reliable dispute resolution mechanism. Therefore, everyone involved in labour dispute settlement must fulfill their responsibilities in line with the settlement of labour dispute law, he added.
The seminar continued in the afternoon and the Director General and deputy directors general of the relevant department presented reports on challenges, strong and weak points of tasks implementations. Then, the attendees made group discussions.
After attending the seminar, the Union Minister and concerned officials visited the Workers’ Hospital and social security clinics in Tamwe Township, and made inspection.
