Labour Affairs: Receiving the Laotian Ambassador to Myanmar

Union Minister for Labour U Myint Naung received Laotian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Bounphieng Chanthavong at the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.

During the meeting, they discussed matters related to the issuance of Certificates of Identity and Overseas Workers Identity Cards for Myanmar migrants, employment opportunities, and the implementation of ILO Convention No. 87 with the establishment of Employers' and Employees' Associations.

They also exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in labor affairs. The Ministry of Labour of Myanmar and the Laotian Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Labour Affairs between the two countries on 21st October 2024, in order to ensure labor rights for Myanmar migrants.
