Labour affairs: MoL UM discussed matters related to Myanmar workers

Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Labor U Myint Naung and Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand U Chit Swe met at the Myanmar Embassy in Thailand on Friday evening to discuss legal temporary residence and work permit of Myanmar workers in Thailand, the process to be carried out under the MoU and the opening of the Certificate of Identity (CI) service centers.

Upon arrival at Mae Sot, Tak Province on Saturday, Myanmar delegation visited (Overseas Worker Identification Card-OWIC) issuance center and heard reports on works undertaking by departmental officials from Myanmar.

And, the Union Minister said that the negotiation has been made on employment contract, MOU U-turn process as one stop service and issuance of work permit and visa as soon as possible. And, the Union Minister oversaw the MoU U-turn process, cordially met with the Myanmar workers and gave words of encouragement.

Then, the Myanmar delegation proceeded to the SAHA Inter-Holding factory in Mae Sot where the factory officials gave a briefing on the operation of the factory.

The Union Minister, the officials from the Ministries of Planning and Finance and Immigration and Population clarified about legal cash transfer through the Remittance Management System Mobile Application, 2% tax on income and EID system respectively.
