Kumbh Mela devotees injured in stampede

A stampede at the Maha Kumbh in the Indian holy city of Prayagraj has left several devotees injured as millions gathered for the ‘Mauni Amavasya Snan’  a sacred dip at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.

The mishap took place near Akhara Marg when devotees attempted to cross barricades leading toward the Sangam Nose. In response, authorities have issued a traffic advisory and enhanced security and crowd management measures to ensure public safety.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have offered condolences to the families of the victims’. Those injured are receiving medical treatment under government’s support and supervision.
