Korea MP defied party to try to impeach president

In a dramatic moment in South Korea’s National Assembly, ruling party lawmakers walked out to block an impeachment motion against President Yoon Suk Yeol for declaring martial law.

However, Ahn Cheol-soo, a self-made millionaire, trained doctorand software designer, remained seated alone in his party's section. Ahn, one of only two members of the ruling People Power Party to vote for Yoon’s removal, stated, "I didn’t vote for the opposition party. I voted for the people."
