Kitchen crops: Trading of kitchen crops is favorable at present

At present, trading of kitchen crops such as rice, oil, salt, chili pepper, onion, potato, fish paste, dried fish and various pulses and beans are favorable at the Yangon Bayintnaung Wholesale Centre.

BayintNaung market is also a main commodity exchange center for basic food products and kitchen crops.

Ye Myint, said " Before Thingyan period, we have high sale volume because there are abundance of donations and the people buy food products in advance. After Thingyan, the sales have come to be normal. The wholesalers and retailers come here to buy the products and we delivered our goods to the delta regions, Mawlamyaing, Hpa-An etc."

Tint Swe, said " This year, the products are more productive than previous years. So, the price is balanced. We have high sales this year than previous years."

There are more than 1,000 commodity depots in Bayintnaung market and is also a main wholesale trading center where edible oil, various pulses and beans, potato, onion, chilli pepper, fish paste, dried fish, fish sauce, dried prawn in addition to imported goods are being sold to local and oversea markets.
