Kishida on maritime security, defense work with Indonesia

Indonesian President Joko Widodo met Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Tokyo on Wednesday, where they discussed further defense cooperation.

Kishida said he expressed his intention to support the improvement of maritime security capabilities to ensure peace and security in the waters around Indonesia.Other discussions on a wide range of issues like energy, investment and trade.Widodo welcomed Japanese investments in his country and asked for Japanese support in helping Indonesia achieve its net-zero emissions target.Widodo is also expected to meet with the Emperor of Japan later in the day.
