King Charles III and Queen Camilla laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Rome on Tuesday, alongside Italian Defence Minister. The solemn ceremony took place at the Victor Emmanuel II Monument, a national symbol honouring Italy’s fallen soldiers.

The visit formed part of the royal couple’s broader state visit to Italy, which began with a red carpet welcome at Ciampino Airport. From there, they travelled to the Quirinale Palace, where President Sergio Mattarella officially received them.

The ceremonial atmosphere continued with the playing of both nations’ anthems and the presence of a full guard of honour.
