Britain's King Charles III continued the tradition of presenting Maundy money as he attended a service at York Minster cathedral on Thursday. The King and Camilla, the Queen consort, were handed flowers upon entry to the cathedral before taking part in the service being held there.
Charles presented 74 men and women with a specially minted coin with a monetary value of £74, a sum that denotes the age of the King. The money is given to individuals for their contributions to the church and is way of recognising their services to the local community. The decorative red and white purse contained two coins.
