North Korean leader Kim Jong Un convened a meeting of his top officials on Thursday, state media reported early on Friday.
Kim urged officials "to make a breakthrough in settling the food problem of the people". He also highlighted other domestic problems like the ongoing campaign against COVID-19, as well as precautions against natural disasters.
North Korea was the first country in the world to shut its borders. Since then, the socialist state has maintained an international lockdown and claims to have no cases of the virus.
That lockdown means trade with its main partner China has massively reduced. Most staff of international aid organizations and many diplomats have left Pyongyang, leaving North Korea more isolated than ever before, and making it difficult to understand conditions within the country.
