North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Wednesday presided over a small meeting of close aides which called for aid to Kaesong, North Korea's city under coronavirus lockdown, state media reported. KCNA reported the meeting heard a report about Kaesong and discussed and decided on the Party Central Committee's special supply of food and funds to the city to stabilize the living of its citizens, and instructed relevant field to take immediate measures in this regard.

After months of claiming no cases of coronavirus, North Korea in July suddenly announced that it had one potential case in the border city of Kaesong, saying that the individual had returned from South Korea. Since then, North Korea says it has stepped up its anti-virus precautions, and put Kaesong into lockdown.
