Kim Jong Un’s sister promoted to a full department director

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's sister Kim Yo Jong had been promoted to a full department director within the Workers' Party of Korea, state media reported on Tuesday.

The decision was made Monday at the first plenary meeting of the ninth central committee of the ruling party. Kim Yo Jong has long been among her brother’s closest lieutenants and one of the most influential women in the party. The announcement of her promotion came as Kim promised to solidify and develop North Korea’s economy over the next five years, according to the Korean Central News Agency.
