


The Ministry of Health has been implementing processes to ensure that the public can access internationally standard medical treatments within the country, thereby reducing the financial burden of healthcare costs for the people and improving the quality of treatment at public hospitals.
In this regard, the 83rd kidney transplant surgery was successfully performed at Mandalay General Hospital on February 20, 2025. The kidney transplant surgery involved a 26-year-old male patient residing in Pyigyitagon Township, Mandalay Region, and his 26-year-old wife, who served as the kidney donor.
The surgery began at 9:22 a.m. on that day and was completed by 2:45 p.m. The post-operative health conditions of both the patient and the donor are reported to be good. Professors, specialist doctors, and skilled nurses are closely providing the necessary care and treatment.
On the morning of February 23, 2025, Deputy Minister of Health Professor Dr. Aye Tun, accompanied by directors-general, Rectors, the head of the Mandalay Region Healthcare Department, and other responsible officials, visited the intensive care unit of Mandalay General Hospital. They met with the patient and the kidney donor who had undergone the transplant surgery, offering encouragement and providing nutritional gift items.
The deputy minister also met with the professors and specialist doctors who participated in the surgery, exchanging greetings and delivering words of appreciation for their efforts.
