Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung, along with officials inspected the completed main dam, water storage and test power generation at the Keng Kham Dam Project near Keng Kham Village, Yat Sauk Township, Shan State (South), on Friday.

At the project briefing hall, the Union Minister heard the reports on the project status and hydropower plant. The Union Minister instructed relevant experts and departments to systematically supervise the works to ensure timely completion and later inspected the dam and hydropower plant.

The project is nearing full completion in the 2025–2026 fiscal year.

The Keng Kham Dam, with a storage capacity of about 350,000 acre-feet, is designed to generate 24 million Kwh annually from a 10-megawatt installed capacity. Released water will replenish the Zawgyi and Myogyi dams via a canal, boosting hydropower output and supplying irrigation systems to support cultivation on about 120,000 acres.

The Union Minister later met Keng Kham village administrators and farmers to discuss water supply for cultivation and drinking water, electricity access and regional development measures to increase farmers’ income.
