





The white thread tying (Wrist Tying) ceremony which is a traditional festival of Kayin ethnic people was held in Myaungmya of Ayeyawady region on Monday. Member of the State Administration Council Mahn Nyein Maung, Ayeyawady region Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win, concerned officials and invited guests attended the ceremony.
The ceremony was opened by the SAC member Mahn Nyein Maung by playing frog drum and after that he gave an opening remark. Later, the Region Chief Minister, the leader of SAC’s Central Advisory Body and the commander of South-west Command extended greetings respectively.
Afterwards, the Regional Ethnic Affairs Minister explained about holding the event and the Chairman of Ayeyawady Region Kayin Literature and Culture Association spoke words of thanks. It was followed by Kayin traditional white thread tying ceremony where the Kayin ethnic people placed the white thread tying materials and the SAC member, officials and guests were tied with the white threads on the wrists. During the ceremony, Kayin traditional dances were entertained and the ceremony was concluded by singing Kayin national song.
