Kayin New Year :Celebration held in Yangon with variety of programs

2763 Kayin New Year celebration was held at Union National Races Village in Thaketa Township, Yangon Region on 11th January. Firstly, Kayin New Year ceremony was opened by striking the Phasi (frog drum).

Next, leader of the State Administration Council Central Advisory Board U Saw Tun Aung Myint delivered new-year greeting speech, saying that in implementing the peace of the State, achievement could be reached through negotiation in a political way based on Union spirit. He called for cooperation of all Kayin ethnic people in shaping the Republic of the Union of Myanmar as Peace and United Nation.

Then, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein extended greetings and the Ethnic Affairs Minister clarified about the Kayin New Year. Afterthat, Kayin traditional activities were staged for the audience including traditional competitions, songs and Done dances, and boxing competition as well as DJ and Stage show.
