Kason Water Pouring Festival: Celebration held in Nay Pyi Taw

15th Kason Water Pouring Festival took place at Uppata Sandhi Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday. Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife and party took the designated places for pouring water to the Bodh trees.

After performing the religious rituals, they poured water to the Bodh trees and offered scented water. Likewise, Kason Water Pouring Ceremony was held at Lawka Chantha Sutaungpyae Pagoda in Zeyathiri Pagoda. Under the auspices of Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife, Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice Senior General Soe Win and wife poured water to the Maha Bodhi trees, together with the senior military officer , military officers, Tatmadawmen and family members.

Full moon day of Kason was the day when Lord Dipankara Buddha gave a word of preordainment of the event to Sumida hermit, saying that “the hermit would be the Lord Buddha in Bhadda World”. It was also the day when Buddha-to-be Prince Siddhartha was born, became Lord Buddha and attained Parinirvana. 

On that day, the Buddhists hold ceremonies regarding it as a religiously significant day. Kason Full Moon Day is designated as Buddha Day, and the religious festivals have been held on this day as a Myanmar traditional cultural heritage.
