Kamala Harris unveils plans to build 'opportunity economy'

Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, unveiled an economic blueprint heavy on popular measures to cut costs for Americans while attacking powerful companies for price gouging, as she fleshes out her election platform ahead of the Democratic National Convention.

Kamala Harris, US vice president, Democratic presidential candidate said "Building up the middle class will be a defining goal of my presidency. Because I strongly believe when the middle class is strong, America is strong."

Promising to champion an "opportunity economy," the plan seeks to tackle the burden of inflation with sweeping new subsidies and tax benefits for poor and middle class Americans.
