Myanmar Judo Federation organized MJF New Row and Under 20 Chairmanship as part of 2019 Olympic Day Movement in Yangon on Tuesday.
MJF has been organized a lot of competitions to develop the Judo Game and also to turn out the talented Judo Players.
13 teams of 265 Judo players from Regions and States are competing by weight classes in 3-day event.
Vice President, Myanmar Judo Federation, Oo Oo Khaing said “This competition is implementing our goals; to get the gold medal in SEA Games Competition and to spread the Judo art among the new generations, students and the youths across the country. We are organizing the competitions by schedules every year, for the youths to learn such a very useful martial art apart from doing lessons. So, they can have more interest in sports instead of doing mistakes in their life.”
MJF has already conducted summer classes to the new judo players and the students from the universities. After that, they select the talented players and let them to compete in the competitions to get experiences and to promote their capacities.
General Secretary, Myanmar Judo Federation, Thi Thi Shein said “We have to create more such kind of new class and minor aged class competitions in order to get the new generations of judo players. Weight classes for today competitions are 73 kilos at most for boys and 70 kilos at most for girls.”
First, second and third prizes will be presented to the winners from each class as well as trophies for the new row and minor aged judo players.
Head Coach, Myanmar Judo Federation, Than Maung said “The first day is for the new rows, the second day for minor aged and the final for pre selection for them. In this year, we started practicing the regulations, drafted by the International Judo federation with the experienced judges in this competition.”
At present, the federation is conducting trainings to Judo players in collaboration with the Head Coach from Japan. Plans are underway to organize Japan Cup in coming years. It’s also learnt that MJF is conducting trainings for the National Team for 30th SEA Games Competition.
