JP Air Self-Defense Force trainer jet crashed into a reservoir

An Air Self-Defense Force (ASDF) trainer jet has crashed into a reservoir in central Japan. A local fire department received a report that an airplane had crashed into a reservoir in Inuyama City, soon after 3 p.m. on Wednesday. 

The aircraft was a T-4 trainer jet carrying two people. Defense Ministry officials said the plane disappeared from radar while it was flying in the vicinity of Inuyama City shortly after it took off from the ASDF Komaki Air Base. Police, fire department and Self-Defense Force personnel are conducting rescue activities.
