










In Myanmar, on the final day of 2023, residents and staff families flocked to shopping centers and local markets in Nay Pyi Taw to prepare for the New Year festivities. The city came alive at night as crowds gathered at the Water Fountain Garden for the New Year Countdown Live Show and market festival.
Visitors reveled in a variety of foods from Thailand, China, Korea, and Myanmar, while also exploring and purchasing consumer goods. Game booths, photo booths, and other engaging programs added to the festive atmosphere, with famous vocalists and dancers entertaining the audience accompanied by music bands and DJs.
Junction Night Bazaar was another hotspot, bustling with people buying a range of items such as food, utensils, medicines, cosmetics, and indoor plants. Vocalists entertained the crowd with their favorite songs, creating a lively atmosphere. As a symbolic gesture to welcome the New Year, government offices, Mingalar Lake, public recreation places, and traffic junctions were adorned with colorful lights, adding to the overall festive spirit of the celebrations.
Similarly, Yangonites joined the Yangon New Year Countdown at the People’s Square and Thuwanabumi Event Park on 31 December with entertainments featuring artistes, vocalists, DJs, and dancer troupes.
Public places in Yangon city were bustling with merrymakers. The New Year festival was arranged at the corner of 26th and 66th streets in Mandalay for happy public participation. Dwellers of Mandalay city enjoyed entertainments featuring artistes accompanied by modern bands and a Myanmar orchestra. People prayed for everyone’s physical and mental well-being.
